The Chalk It Up! Chalk Art & Music Festival has been FREE for the community since 1991 thanks to your sponsorship donations!
Individuals, families, businesses, organizations – anyone who is a patron of the arts can show their support of artists and the arts community by sponsoring a Sidewalk Chalk Mural at the Chalk it Up! Festival.
As a Chalk Art Sponsor, you are a Patron of the arts. Your donation supports our rental and city event fees to put on the festival by providing a "canvas" of a specified area of the sidewalk at the festival for your assigned artist. Artists are all volunteers, and your sponsorship donation also provides them with a starter kit of chalk, a t-shirt, snacks, and treats. Chalk Art Sponsors can be individuals or families, schools or other non-profit organizations, or can be for-profit businesses. The Artist will include your name on the Chalk Art Mural so that you are credited as the Chalk Art Sponsor, showing your support of the Sacramento Arts Community.
As the sponsor you can tell us what kind of "vibe" or theme you prefer; however, it is the Artist who ultimately decides what their final artwork looks like. We do not ask our artists to recreate your business logo - this is not intended to be a billboard. Most artists start working on their layouts months in advance, practicing at home, taking inspiration from animals, nature, music and poetry, pop culture, and the world around them. If you like animals, flowers and nature, food or dining, education, or music, Anime, or any other subject or theme, please let us know in the form below. We will do our best to find an artist that works in these subjects. If you would like to have a specific image or logo, then you might consider recruiting an artist who is interested in doing that work.
There is never a charge for the Artists to participate. The fees are all covered by your sponsorship donation. Chalk It Up will provide each Chalk Art Sponsor with a volunteer artist, or Chalk Art Sponsors can recruit their favorite artists to sign up.
